Line and Wash Watercolor Sketching

Line and Wash Watercolor Sketching

Saturday 25 May
Canton Rd. - 10am - 2 Hours
Natalie Brennan
In this Line and Wash watercolor class, we will learn how to combine line drawings with watercolors to create beautiful and interesting works of art. Great for beginners and those looking to try something new!

We will start by creating line drawings using pens or markers. Students will focus on capturing the basic forms and details of their chosen subjects. Once the line drawings are complete, the class will move on to watercolor techniques. This could involve learning how to mix and apply watercolors, create gradients, add textures, and experiment with different painting styles.

I live on Atwood Lake and this is just one of the many beautiful landscapes I see everywhere. As far as techniques go I used a fan brush to get the individual leafs to stand out.

I just love this whimsical little faerie girl! This past January I participated in a 4 day online watercolor symposium featuring 25 of the world's best watercolorists. For 4 days I watched as these amazing artists demonstrated their skills and techniques. I studied their every stroke, but ultimately was drawn to those who were incredible portrait artists. Since January I've been solely painting portraits, working to build my own skill set. It's become my new passion!

Spring is in the air. I have recently been doing some daffodil paintings. For this painting I did a wash and instantly saw the potential for more daffodils and space for the lamb peeking through them. One of my former instructors always said, ?Listen to your painting.? This is exactly what I did here. Possibly, the idea of a lamb was inspired by the season of Easter as well.

Ailsa Craig is an island in the Irish Sea off the Scottish coast. Its a magical place and the colours of the sea and sky can be exquisitely beautiful. One of my favourite places to paint. This is one of a series of paintings I have done of the island.

This was painted for my granddaughters, who went to Finland last December. The photo I used is one taken by my daughter in law. I loved the way the lights created a green swirl in the sky, framed by the ink black trees and white snow.
